University of California Natural Reserve System

The University of California Natural Reserve System (NRS) makes relatively undisturbed samples of the state's natural ecosystems and the facilities needed to support teaching and research available not only to students, teachers, and researchers from the University of California, but to any qualified user from any institution, public or private, throughout the world.

All potential users must:

Contact the reserve manager to check for time and space availability.
Read the NRS Use Guidelines.
Download a use application from this website, or call (510) 987-0150.
Complete and submit the application via email, fax, or US Mail.

Important:

Projects involving animal research require filing an Animal Use Protocol with the respective UC campus Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee overseeing the reserve.
