Training,
Health and Education
Personnel participating
in animal research, teaching and care at UC Riverside facilities are
required to complete the UC Riverside Animal Care and Use Training, Health
and Education program before initiating animal research activities.
The Animal Care and Use Training, Health and Education program
consists of several required activities.

Review the UC Riverside Laboratory Animal Care and Use
Training Manual in the laboratory you will be working.

Review the specific Animal Use Protocol (AUP) for
which you seek participation.

Complete the UC Riverside
Animal Care and Use Training Course and exam.

View a species
related training video.
-
Enroll in the UC Riverside Animal
Occupational Health
and Safety Program.

Submit a
completed
Training
Verification Form* to the Office of the Campus
Veterinarian.

Lab Training Verification Form
(*to be used only by Dr. Reznick's Lab in place of the verification form above)

Meet with the Vivaria Manager for an orientation of
the Vivarium you will be working in.
(This is the last step and information will be given to you when you
turn your forms in).
All forms and the certificate of completion from the
on-line course must be turned in to the Office of the Campus
Veterinarian (University Office Building, Room 216) for processing.
Each person will receive an email from the Office of the Campus
Veterinarian as soon as their training is complete and their Health Form
is cleared. Students/personnel are not supposed to enter the
vivarium or work with the animals until they receive this clearance.
